The great thing about General Motors performance packages is that a few innocent-looking letters and numbers associated witha performance package can turn a good car into a great one. For example, the WS6 added to this 1996 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am makes this coupe an under $18K Holy Grail find.

This is the slipperiest Firebird design ever, and so it's only fitting that this coupe wears a slick black lacquer that could look wet even in a desert. This is a rapidly appreciating collector's car, and so it's nice to see the previous two owners have gone to great lengths to keep the body and its original shade of midnight in pristine condition. But a car like this was made for more than just being parked as garage art. The WS6 package was never subtle with Ram Air hood scoops, flares, and large fog lights all competing for your attention. But finishing it in black gives this one a sinister appearances that tells everyone on the street, “Don't mess with me!” Best of all this is a T-top coupe, which means you get the convertible wind-in-your-hair feeling without giving up the rigidity of a roof section.
